Mission Statement

The Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine Advising Program serves to help meet the academic, professional and personal development needs of the Loyola Medical Students.  It serves to incorporate the best available resources into both curricular as well as peri-curricular experiences while providing highly trained faculty advisors for individualized and personal attention.

Dr. Camilla Larsen came to work fulltime at Stritch School of Medicine after spending 10 years in Family Medicine Residency Education at Cook County. She became the Director of Advising because she is passionate about creating and maintaining an environment that supports all Stritch Medical students in the pursuit of their career goals. Dr. Larsen was born in Norway and grew up in Idaho. She received her BA at Whitman College and her MD at University of Washington School of Medicine. She graduated from the Loyola-Provident Family Residency Program.

Dr. Ramzan Shahid received his BS in 1992 and MD in 1996, both from UIC. He completed his Pediatric Residency training in 1999 from Advocate Christ Hospital. Dr. Shahid's 22-year career has focused on medical education and academic pediatrics.He has been at Loyola for the past 14 years and has held several leadership roles. His passion for teaching and mentoring has culminated in multiple teaching awards. Dr. Shahid has an interest in emotional intelligence (EI).

Kelly Larkin joined the Department of Educational Affairs in March 2018. Kelly previously worked for Loyola University Medical Center for 7 years in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as an Administrative Secretary. Kelly serves as the administrator of the Stritch School of Medicine Advising Program.
