Message from the Interim Dean and Chief Diversity Officer
On behalf of the faculty and administration, it is with great pleasure that I welcome your interest in Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Diversity among faculty, students, trainees, and staff is critical to the overall excellence at Stritch School of Medicine. As such we work to foster a welcoming campus culture that facilitates learning and discovery within a collegial, community of scholars.
Our campus is located in the Chicago area, a cosmopolitan city inhabited by people all over the world, thus our patient population is among the most ethnically diverse in the United States. With this foundation, we are uniquely positioned for promoting diversity and inclusion in research, clinical care, and education. It is an exciting time in academic medicine, as the changing demographics of America will reshape the delivery of care in the 21st century. To meet these challenges, our country will need many more great physicians who are dedicated to improving the quality and access to health care. At Stritch we train not only great physicians, but community leaders who think holistically, globally, and locally to meet the needs of those who are underserved.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our resources/programs and the many opportunities that we offer in medical education, biomedical research, and clinical care. Along with Dr. Freager Williams, our Interim Assistant Dean of Diversity, I welcome your input and constructive suggestions to advance our diversity initiatives and create a rich academic environment that is engaging for all.
