Bipolar Depression Study

Purpose:
To investigate whether bipolar depressed individuals who have not responded satisfactorily to an antidepressant will benefit from combining antidepressant therapy with an anti-inflammatory drug.

You may be eligible to participate if:

  • You are 21-65 years of age
  • You have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, with no other significant medical or psychiatric diagnoses
  • You have depressive symptoms that have not responded satisfactorily to previous or existing antidepressant therapy
  • You are currently a non-smoker
  • You have no history of drug abuse within the preceding 12 months

Qualified participants will receive psychiatric medication for a maximum of eight visits over a period of 10 weeks.

Participants will be compensated up to $360 for their time and travel.

Adolescent Fibromyalgia Study

Purpose:
To investigate the safety and efficacy of Pregabalin (Lyrica) in the treatment of adolescent fibromyalgia.

Study participants must:

  • Be 12-17 years of age
  • Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
  • Experience widespread pain for 3 or more months
  • Meet all study criteria

If your child qualifies to take part in this research study, he/she will attend 7 clinic visits over a 17-week period. If qualified, your child will receive the study medication or placebo (an inactive look-alike pill) and study-related care at no cost.

Healthy Volunteers Needed

Healthy volunteers will not receive any medical treatment. Results obtained from healthy volunteers’ lab work and other assessments will be used to help understand results of the research study participants.

Study participants must:

  • Be 20-65 years of age
  • Have no chronic medical illnesses
  • Have no mental illnesses
  • Have no history of substance abuse
  • Have no first degree relatives with mental illnesses or substance abuse

Participants will be compensated $200 for completion of two study visits.
