Vera Schalansky, JD

 ‌

After graduating law school, I began my career at an insurance-defense litigation firm in Chicago.  I ultimately relocated to New York, where I took on a research position as an Appellate Court Attorney for the Second Judicial Department of New York, the most active Appellate Court in the United States.  As an appellate court attorney, I prepared confidential written reports for the Appellate Justices making recommendations for the resolution of both civil and criminal cases on appeal.

I have always had a passion for higher education and working with students.  In law school, I advised students while serving as a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant.  And, as a practicing attorney, I had the privilege to mentor and work along-side new associates.  I also have significant experience preparing for high-stakes, standardized board examinations, having sat for and passed the Bar Exam in both Illinois and New York.

I am excited to be a part of an academic community that values personal and professional growth.  I am a believer in life-long learning and since coming to Stritch, I have had the opportunity to complete a course in Wellness Coach Training at the Mayo Clinic.  I look forward to helping Stritch students successfully navigate the academic demands of medical school while maintaining balance in their personal lives.
