Honors Programs at Stritch

Global Health

The Community and Global Health (CGH) Honors Program provides a four-year curricular foundation for service learning at the Stritch School of Medicine. Drawing on its Jesuit and Catholic heritage, the Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) encourages this development within a culture of excellence in professionalism. The program supports field experience and scholarly investigation for students who plan to incorporate global health into their career.  The CGH Honors Program builds on the success of the SSOM Ignatian Service Immersion (ISI) Program and an expansion of the public health programming in the Health Sciences Campus.

See Global Health Honors Program for more information.

Bioethics

The Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM), drawing on its Jesuit and Catholic heritage, encourages the development of the character & intellect of its students and has a culture of excellence in professionalism.  SSOM has a large number of students who are active in a self-directed curriculum related to bioethics, health policy, service to the underserved, leadership, and professionalism.  The Bioethics and Professionalism Honors Program asks the student to go one step further to document systematically and reflect upon this self-directed curriculum.  Those who complete this program are recognized with departmental honors administered by the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics.

See Bioethics Honors Program for more information.

Research

The Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) Research Honors Program is designed to distinguish those medical student graduates who have completed a structured research curriculum, as well as to recognize their research achievements.

Candidates for the MD degree who complete a program of advanced education and experience in research will be recognized with an MD and completion of the Research Honors Program.
