Children are at increased risk during disasters due to their unique physiologic, anatomic, developmental and cognitive attributes. Illinois EMSC works to provide resources, tools, training and education to those who care for children in the health care and community setting before, during and after a disaster. We strongly encourage and advocate for the inclusion of children in disaster plans, response policies/ protocols, and recovery strategies to ensure their unique needs are met.
