Bioethics Interest Group

The Bioethics Interest Group (BIG) at the Stritch School of Medicine is committed to exposing medical students to the role of bioethics and professionalism in the field of medicine. BIG believes that by understanding topics in bioethics, medical students will be better served as future physicians. We aim to help medical students see how they may involve bioethics into their careers and to provide them with the necessary framework for viewing medical dilemmas through a bioethical lens. Throughout the year, BIG holds various opportunities for involvement, such as case studies and mock ethics consultations, panels with the Neiswanger Bioethics Institute faculty, and shadowing experiences. Additionally, we organize different events to raise awareness about controversial topics in medicine and healthcare, highlighting the principles of bioethics. Overall, BIG hopes to prepare medical students for a life-long commitment to ethical decision making as future clinicians and leaders in medicine.
