Thoracic Surgery Interest Group
The Thoracic Surgery Interest Group (TSIG) strives to educate Stritch students about the field of thoracic surgery. The goal of TSIG is to foster interest in the surgical management of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and diseases of the heart and lung, including transplantation. TSIG at Stritch aims to effectively inform students who have little to no previous knowledge or exposure to thoracic surgery. For those students who have had previous exposure or are actively considering thoracic surgery as a potential career, TSIG aims to introduce those students to potential shadowing and research opportunities with Loyola-affiliated physicians. Because of the intensive research required in a heavily oncological field, TSIG will make research a cornerstone of its educational endeavors, including journal clubs and faculty/resident research meetings.
