Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group (TSIG)

Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group (TSIG) strives to educate Stritch students about the field of cardiothoracic surgery. The goal of TSIG is to foster interest in the surgical management of diseases of the heart and lungs, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer and transplantation. TSIG at Stritch aims to effectively inform students who have little to no previous knowledge or exposure to cardiothoracic surgery. For those individuals who have encountered this specialty previously or are actively contemplating a career in cardiothoracic surgery, TSIG aims to introduce those students to potential shadowing and research opportunities with Loyola-affiliated physicians. Regarding the imperative role of research within the context of the cardiothoracic field, TSIG will establish research as a pivotal cornerstone of its educational initiatives, encompassing activities such as journal clubs and collaborative research projects with faculty members and residents.
