Visual Arts Wellness Group

The goal of this organization is to promote the wellbeing of students and community through the encouragement of creativity and the nurturing of the artistic spirit.

Our first aim is to host student wellness events on a regular (monthly or bi-monthly) basis. Our line-up could include “sip and paint” events with tea or coffee instead of alcohol, observational plein air drawing outdoors, pottery workshops, and photography lessons. To encourage collaboration and bonding through art, we would hold these events in large classroom spaces, the SSOM atrium, or outdoors with café tables and/or lawn chairs.

Our second aim is to provide our creative Stritch students with a platform through which they can share their talents with the greater Stritch and Chicago community. For this reason, we want to create both an arts and literary publication showcasing medical student work, as well as a physical art gallery event in the SSOM.

We will acquire the funding for these initiatives through funding allocations provided by Student Affairs, as well as organized fundraisers and coffeehouses.
