Rheumatology

Loyola’s Board certified rheumatologists treat patients with complex rheumatologic diseases. We are also committed to collaborative, interdisciplinary care with medical and surgical specialties that care for patients with arthritic or immune- mediated diseases.

The Division of Rheumatology takes great pride and has a strong commitment to the education of medical students, residents, fellows and medical professionals in the community. Teaching of medical students and housestaff occurs daily via didactic lectures, bedside rounds during inpatient consultations and/or in the ambulatory clinic. Several faculty members also teach in the Mechanisms of Human Disease and Host Defense courses during the first and second years of medical school. Faculty members actively help educate medical professionals in the community through Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs. The Faculty is routinely requested to speak at various venues such as Grand Rounds and Regional Conferences.

A competitive fellowship program is also offered and provides broad clinical training at the Loyola University Medical Center and Edwards Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. The fellowship program is further discussed under the FELLOWHIPS tab.

Description of and requirement for our 2 medical student electives can be found here. Visiting medical students should also visit this site for the additional requirements that must be met in order to qualify for a Stritch School of Medicine clerkship.
