Dissertation and Thesis Defenses

Timothy Nickels (Dingwall Laboratory) successfully defended his MS thesis on June 8, 2018. The title of his thesis was "Characterizing the Requirement of the CMI/TRR Compass-Like Complex During Drosophila Developement".
Timothey is currently in the Cell, Molecular, Developemental Biology and Biophysics PhD graduate program at Johns Hopkins University.

Flor Navarro (Watkins Laboratory) successfully defended her PhD dissertation on April 17, 2019. 
Dissertation title: "Characterization of the Effects of Sex and Estrogen Receptor Signaling on Antigen-Specific T Cells for Immunotherapy"

Jonathan Dixit (Zeleznik-Le Laboratory) successfully defended his MS thesis on June 12, 2019.

The annual Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Retreat was held on September 14, 2019 at Argonne National Laboratory. The student poster presentation winners were 1st Hao Wang (Qiu laboratory); 2nd Jonathan Eby (Callaci laboratory); 3rd Lourdes Plaza-Rojas (Guevara laboratory).

from the Integrated Program in Biomedical Sciences. Sarah has joined
the laboratory of Dr. Toni Pak.

Flor Navarro (Watkins laboratory) published a paper the Gender and the Genome, vol. 2: 81-90, 2018. The title of her paper was "Estrogen regulation of T cell function and its impact on the tumor microenvironment". 
Lourdes Plaza Rojas (Guevara laboratory) was co-author on a paper published in Journal for the ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, vol. 7: 2019. The title of her paper was "NKG2D signaling certifies effector CD8 T cells for memory formation".
Jonathan Eby (Callaci laboratory) published a paper in PLoS One, 2019 Mar 20;14(3):e02143. The title of his paper was "Effects of ethanol and ethonal metabolites on intrinsic function of mesentric resistance arteries".
Jonathan Eby (Callaci laboratory) published a paper in Science Signaling 2018 Oct 16;11(552). The title of his paper was "Baised antagonism of CXCR4 aviods antagonist tolerance".
David Ford (Dingwall laboratory) represented the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program at Loyola University Chicago’s Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT) on February 15, 2018.  David competed against graduate students from across Loyola and won 1st place overall.  David will represent Loyola at the Midwest Association of Graduate School’s 3MT competition in Grand Rapids, MI.  Congratulations David!
