The Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to excellence in:

  • Evidence-based, family-centered pediatric care
  • Medical education of students, residents, and community based practitioners
  • Pediatric research that will fulfill our mission in improving healthcare for all children

Our department is comprised of approximately 90 full time faculty members devoted to the care of children and adolescents from birth to 21 years of age. Our faculty include pediatric medical and surgical specialists as well as community based primary care physicians.

Members of the faculty provide tertiary and quaternary care at the Ronald McDonald® Children's Hospital, a children's hospital within a hospital, located at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Ronald McDonald® Childrens Hospital consists of 125 pediatric beds, including 36 general pediatric beds, 14 pediatric intensive care beds, 50 neonatal intensive care beds, and 25 newborn bassinets.

Ambulatory pediatric specialty care is provided at the Loyola Outpatient Center on the medical center campus in Maywood, Illinois, the Loyola Center for Children's Health in Oakbrook Terrace, the Loyola Center for Health in Burr Ridge as well as the Loyola Center for Health in Homer Glen.
