Welcome to the Stritch School of Medicine

Students pursue their calling to be a physician, scientist, ethicist – or a combination of those roles. We are proud of our unique community: an unusually supportive, collaborative, learning environment with exceptional faculty and staff dedicated to training the next generation of physician leaders and innovative scientists.

With a holistic admissions process that considers a candidate's experiences, service, attributes, grades, MCAT scores, and other factors, Stritch seeks to offer admission to as diverse a group of candidates as possible for the Doctor of Medicine degree. Loyola's Graduate School (which confers Master of Science and Doctoral degrees) and the Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Healthcare Leadership, approach admissions similarly.

Stritch students consistently achieve matches in very competitive residencies. Graduates of Loyola's MS and PhD Biomedical Sciences programs typically continue developing their careers at leading universities, pharma and other industry, or pursue additional areas of study.

Our Health Sciences Campus is home to Stritch (and its 18 clinical and six basic sciences departments), the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, and the 250,000 square-foot Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE), which provides space for 500 research investigators, trainees, and staff. In the CTRE, you will find our Basic Sciences departments (Cancer Biology, Cell and Molecular Physiology, Microbiology and Immunology, and Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience) as well as our four, specialty research institutes: Burn and Shock Trauma; Cardiovascular; Infectious Disease, and Neuroscience.

Located in west suburban Chicago, we share this Maywood Health Sciences Campus with our academic medical center partner, Loyola Medicine (a member of Trinity Health).

The Stritch medical education program is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
