Neuroscience Graduate Program Mission & Expectations
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of your studies, MS or PhD graduates will have competently acquired, mastered, and demonstrated:
A broad, comprehensive understanding of the entire field of neuroscience, including neuroanatomy, neurochemistry, molecular neurobiology, neuropharmacology, neurophysiology, and brain-behavior relations
A detailed, in-depth knowledge of their own particular subspecialty of neuroscience that will provide a solid theoretical and practical base for their thesis/dissertation research
A critical understanding, evaluation, and application of the scientific literature
Fundamental skills of hypothesis-driven specific aims tested experimental research
Experience with the design and implementation of their own original thesis/dissertation research project
Analytical skills appropriate for data analyses
Interpersonal skills required for written and oral communication of scientific research findings
A critical understanding of the importance of ethical behavior in science
