Dr. Williams’ a Team Doctor with the Chicago White Sox for Over 25 Years

Herm Schneider and Tracy Williams, OD

Dr. Tracy ‌‌Williams has an interesting background to say the least.

Tracy grew up in Lombard, IL and attended Willowbrook H.S. He graduated from the University of Illinois, the Illinois College of Optometry and trained with renowned low vision specialist, Eleanor Faye, MD at the New York Lighthouse. He would tell you he had a great childhood with a loving family, lots of good friends, pets, a tree fort, and summers filled with baseball.

‌As a die-hard White Sox fan Tracy’s dream career goal was to play professional baseball for the White Sox. As he would explain, that goal was delayed due to lack of talent! In life things seem to always work out. His backup goal of being an eye doctor to help people see better was realized.

Dr. Williams’ just completed his 25th year as a team doctor with the Chicago White Sox! He even has a 2‌005 World Series ring! Not too bad for a kid from Lombard who was a member of the Lombard Babe Ruth All-Stars in the 1960s. Dr. Williams continues to follow his dreams and this past January played eleven baseball games at the White Sox Fantasy Camp. His body took a beating but his energy and performance was pretty good.

Since 1998, Dr. Williams has served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Loyola University and specializes in low vision rehabilitation. His work helps children and adults with permanent vision loss optimize their sight and independence with prescriptive glasses, devices, technology, training and inspiration. He is the Executive Director of the Spectrios Institute for Low Vision in Wheaton.

See, often time your dreams can come together in many ways. As it turns out, White Sox Charities are very interested and supportive of Dr. Williams work with the visually impaired. I am very fortunate to have achieved many of my dreams, while continuing to help others realize their own potential!
