Karina is a graduate student at Loyola University Chicago. She graduated with distinction from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Psychology and a secondary major in German. Karina’s research interests lie in antiviral technologies and vaccine creation. Her current work exploring the mechanism and dynamics of hepatitis C virus cell-to-cell spread is contributing to a collaborative project focused on mathematical modeling of HCV cell-to-cell spread. Outside the lab she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking, literature and spending time with her family.
