CONGRATULATIONS TO NANCY ZELEZNIK-LE, PHD
Congratulations to Nancy Zeleznik-Le, PhD, for her promotion to Chair of Stritch’s Department of Cancer Biology, effective September 1, 2019. Since joining Loyola University Chicago as an Assistant Professor in 1999, Zeleznik-Le has moved up the ranks, most recently as a Professor in the Department of Medicine and co-director of the Oncology Research Institute. In July 2018, Zeleznik-Le was named interim Chair of the new Department of Cancer Biology, which was created to be Stritch’s center for cancer-related research.
As Chair, Zeleznik-Le will be responsible for establishing departmental goals, as well as promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service. She will continue in her role as Deputy Director and Associate Director for Basic Research at the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. She will continue to lead the Cancer Gene Regulation Program with research focusing on the Mixed Lineage Leukemia (MLL) gene and MLL-fusion proteins that cause leukemia.
Zeleznik-Le received her BS in Microbiology and Immunology from the Ohio State University and her PhD in Immunology and Cellular and Molecular Biology from Duke University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Lineberger Cancer Research Center.
